The Florala’s baseball team had a play date with Laurel Hill on Tuesday afternoon in Florala with the Wildcats downing the Hobos 5-3.

Hagen Hughes got the start on the mound and got the first batter to pop out for the first out of the game.

Laurel Hill then got a gift as an error for the Wildcats’ shortstop put a runner on base.

Hughes struck out the next batter before another error allowed the Hobos to take a 1-0 lead.

Hughes got the next batter to ground out to the mound for the final out.

In the bottom of the first inning, Logan West got things going with a one-out single.

Hughes followed with a walk and then a walk to Hunter Adams loaded the bases full of Wildcats.

West then came around to score off of a wild pitch  to tie the game 1-1.

Judd Goolsby then dropped down a sacrifice bunt and the Hobos’ third baseman made a throwing error that allowed Hughes and Adams to score to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.

The Wildcats next two batters were called out, but Florala was on top 3-1 after one inning of play.

In the top of the second inning, Hughes walked the first batter before striking out the second batter.

Hughes walked the third batter to put the tying run on base, but then struck out the next two batters to end the frame.

However, one of the walked batters came around to score to cut the Florala lead down to 3-2.

The Wildcats got a hit batter and a walk to start the bottom of the second inning before a Dixon Drakkar dropped down a sacrifice bunt to give Florala runners on second and third with one out.

West followed with a walk to load the bases, but Florala was unable to add to their lead in the inning.

On the mound in the top of the third inning, Hughes remained dialed in as he kept the Hobos off the board in the inning.

Goolsby was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the third inning and then stole second and third.

The Wildcats added to their lead when a sacrifice bunt brought Goolsby into score.

Florala’s final run of the game came off of a wild pitch to go up 5-2.

Laurel Hill picked up one run in the top of the fourth inning, but Florala held on for the win.
