Nurses among most in-demand

Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows nursing continues to be one of the most in-demand jobs in Alabama.

According to data analyzed in March, there were 2,102 openings for nurses in Alabama, just behind the 2,350 openings for retail salespeople. Nurses earn an average hourly wage of $28.43 in Alabama, or an average of approximately $59,000 per year.

The top three employers posting employments ads were: UAB Medicine (807), CVS Health (712), and McDonald’s (658). These were followed by Pizza Hut, Lowe’s, Baptist Health, Regions, Auburn University, Domino’s, and Compass Group to round out the top 10 employers with the most online ads.
