A Sunday night crash claimed the life of an elderly man in Florala.

Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole said that Bernard Anthony, 80, was driving a pickup truck westbound into Florala on Hwy. 54 when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into oak trees at about 7:30 p.m.

Bedsole said that he was ejected from the vehicle and had severe injuries, but was pronounced dead when the rescue squad appeared on scene.

The cause of the crash is unknown as Alabama State Troopers are still investigating.
