Assistant principal, coaches hired at Straughn

The Covington County Schools Board of Education made a number of personnel decisions at its Monday meeting, including hiring an assistant principal, an offensive coordinator and a defensive coordinate at Straughn.

The board:

Agreed to hire:

• Daniel Ray Rodgers as assistant principal of Straughn Elementary School and Straughn Middle School.

• Brandon Schylar Avant as general social science teacher and defensive coordinator at Straughn High School.

• Gabe Holden Gunter as general social science teacher and offensive coordinator at Straughn High School.

• Brittany Dianne Van Winkle as band director at Florala High School.

• Christin Leigh Harrington as social science teacher at Florala High School.

• Bailey Erin Sanders Bryan as elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School.

• Frankie Isabella Ziglar as elementary teacher at Red Level Elementary School.

• Auburn Ward Carrier as Pre-K teacher at Red Level Elementary School.

• Anna Anderson Padgett as Pre-K auxiliary teacher at Straughn Elementary School.

• Margaret Suzanna Stockton as Pre-K auxiliary teacher at Straughn High School.

Accepted the following resignations:

• Matthew Thomas Canant, as bus shop mechanic.

• Robert James King as bus driver at Red Level High School.

• Jonathan Scott Pennington as paraprofessional at Red Level High School.

• Kellye Parr Rodgers as Pre-K paraprofessional at Straughn Elementary School.

• Dana Marie McMath as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School.

• Erica Renee Ziglar as special education teacher at Straughn High School.

Approved the following retirements:

• Cynthia M. Thompson as English teacher at Straughn High School.

• John M. Higgins as social science teacher at Straughn High School.

Transferred:

• Emily Clem Johns, elementary teacher at Pleasant Home Schools, to Straughn Elementary School.

The board also:

• Accepted a bid from Hotel and Restaurants Supply for two serving lines at Straughn Middle School for $102,488.

• Nominated Milner Perry, Bobby R. Jackson and Wallace Bush to the County Board of Equalization.
