PUNCHING POSTSEASON TICKET: Lady Bulldogs earn spot in regional tourney

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs punched their ticket to Gulf Shores with a pair of wins on Monday in the Class 4A, Area 2 tournament in Andalusia.

ANDALUSIA 18,

MONROE COUNTY 0

Andalusia opened up the tournament with an 18-0 win over the Monroe County Lady Tigers.

Sydney Arnett got the start in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Bulldogs and she struck out the first batter she faced.

The next batter ground back to the circle for the second out and Arnett carved up the third batter to end the frame.

M.K. Salter dropped down a swinging bunt for a single to start the bottom of the first inning.

It didn’t take long for the Lady Bulldogs to grab the lead as Sydney Ray ripped a double to left center that scored Salter with ease.

Arnett helped her own cause when she laced a double to the fence that brought Ray around to score.

Chloe Mikel kept things rolling with a single that bounced off of the bag at third.

Andalusia loaded the bases when Raygen Clarke was hit by a pitch.

Erin Riley then picked up an RBI when she was plunked with the bases loaded.

Maddie O’Conner cleared the ducks off of the pond after driving a ball to the fence in left field for a double to put the Lady Bulldogs up 6-0.

The Lady Bulldogs put runners on first and second when Morgan Bledsoe was hit by a pitch.

Payton Burden gave the Lady Bulldogs an 8-0 lead with a two-run triple.

Salter followed with a triple to keep the train rolling.

The Lady Bulldogs went up 10-0 when Ray drove in Salter off of an error.

Clarke gave the Lady Bulldogs an 11-0 cushion before an infield fly gave Andalusia their first out of the inning.

O’Conner drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to put the Lady Bulldogs up 13-0 with two outs in the bottom of the first inning.

Burden made it 15-0 with a two-run single.

Salter notched her third hit of the first inning and drove in Burden to put the Lady Bulldogs up 16-0 after one inning of play.

Arnett made short work of the Lady Tigers in the top of the second inning as she struck out the side in order.

Ray was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the second inning and moved to third on a double from Arnett.

Ray scored on a passed ball and then a sacrifice drove in the final run of the game.

Arnett struck out the first batter in the top of the third before getting a ground out for the second out.

Arnett finished off the perfect game with a strikeout to give the Lady Bulldogs an 18-0 win.

ANDALUSIA 17, CLARKE COUNTY 2

The Lady Bulldogs punched their ticket to the South Regionals in Gulf Shores with a 17-2 win.

Clarke County got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning.

Salter reached on a dropped third strike to start the bottom of the first inning.

Mikel dropped down a bunt single and then Clarke put the Lady Bulldogs on top with a three-run blast over the fence in left center.

After one inning of play the Lady Bulldogs were on top 3-1.

Andalusia opened up the flood gates in the bottom of the second inning.

Salter drove in a pair of runs with a double and a triple from Erin Riley gave the Lady Bulldogs a 9-1 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs continued you to charge as they went on to win the game 17-2.
