Andalusia Health is pleased to announce that Willie Furr, DNP, CRNA has been appointed to serve as a voting member of the hospital’s board of trustees.

Furr is the owner of Community Anesthesia LLC.

“It has been an honor caring for the needs of the people of Covington County and surrounding areas over the past 15 years,” Furr said. “Familiar faces and friends who trust and know that they will receive the best care possible close to home. I look forward to greater involvement within Andalusia Health’s team of experts and the opportunities to learn and grow.”

Andalusia Health CEO John Yanes said, “Willie offers extensive knowledge as a clinician and as a resident of Covington County. He is well respected by his colleagues and is relentless when it comes to safely caring for our patients.

Furr worked as a hospital corpsman at the Naval Health Science Center from 1990 until 1995. He earned an associate’s degree from LBW Community College in 1997, and earned his B.S. in nursing in 1999.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with an MSN with anesthesia concentration in 2004. He heard his DNP (doctor of nursing practice) from Troy University in May of 2016.

He currently serves as vice president and president-elect of the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists (ALANA). He also serves on the organization’s federal and state political advocacy team.
