The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team came up with a split in Thursday conference action in Andalusia .

GAME ONE

BISHOP STATE 6,

LBWCC 0

In the opening game of the day, the Saints couldn’t get much going on offense as they fell 6-0.

J Holbert got the start on the mound for the Saints and quickly got a pair of ground outs to open the top of the first inning.

Bishop State then got a two-out double, but Holbert escaped damage by striking out the next batter.

Jesse Hall led off the bottom of the first inning with a single.

Hall attempted to steal second, but was thrown out by the Bishop State catcher.

Bryson Gandy then came through with a double, but the Saints couldn’t move him around to score.

Bishop State took the lead in the top of the third inning after scoring a run off of an error.

Bishop State added one run in the fourth inning, one run in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning to come away with a 6-0 win.

Hall finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk.

Gandy went 2-for-4.

GAME TWO

LBWCC 4,

BISHOP STATE 0

The Saints got a solid pitching performance in the second game to pick up a 4-0 win.

Landon Pritchett took the mound for the Saints and fired a gem in the victory.

Bishop State got a double to start the top of the first inning, but that was the last hit that Pritchett would allow in the contest.

Hall drew a walk to start the bottom of the first inning, but was thrown out at second on bunt from Gandy.

Gandy moved to second when Parker Griffin was hit by a pitch.

Jarius Colley gave the Saints the lead when he ripped a line drive to left field that allowed Gandy to score.

A few pitches later, Griffin scored on a passed ball.

Reid Whitaker then came through with a single to put the Saints up 3-0.

Pritchett struck out the first batter in the top of the second inning, but a dropped third strike allowed the batter to reach first.

After getting a pop out, Pritchett got the next batter to fly out the Gandy in right field.

The Bishop State runner ventured too far from first and Gandy fired the ball to Griffin for a double play.

Logan Thompson walked to start the bottom of the second inning and then came around to score on a single from Gandy.

Pritchett earned the win after allowing no runs, one hit, two walks and six strikeouts.
