This summer is a great time to consider earning college credits and LBW Community College offers non-traditional students an opportunity to apply for a scholarship.

“For those who are 21 years of age or older, and/or those students who have been out of high school for one or more years or have passed all sections of the GED, we have non-traditional scholarships that can help for the summer semester,” said Heather Owen, LBWCC director of student recruitment and scholarship committee chair.

“Current or previously enrolled college students must have a cumulative 2.5 grade point average or higher to be eligible for these scholarships.”

The summer term non-traditional scholarship covers tuition and fees up to $1,500, and the deadline to apply is April 5, 2019.

In addition, applicants must:

  Complete the admissions application if not previously applied to LBWCC;

  Complete and submit the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form online atwww.fafsa.gov and include LBWCC’s school code of 008988;

  Submit all official transcripts to the Student Services office;

  Submit two letters of recommendation; and

  Explain any circumstances that demonstrate a special financial need for assistance with college expenses.

“Unless we receive all required documents, the application is considered incomplete and disqualified for consideration,” said Owen.
