BULLDOGS’ BATS STAY HOT: AHS shuts out Eufaula for 2nd win in as many games

The Andalusia Bulldogs moved to 2-0 on the young season with an 8-0 win over Eufaula on Thursday night at Troy University.

Brennan Strong got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs and ran into a little trouble out of the gate.

After hitting the first batter, walking the second batter and then giving up a single to the third batter, Strong settled in and retired the next three batters without giving up a run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Gill Morgan reached after getting hit by a pitch and then moved around to second with a stolen base.

Hogan Nichols followed with a base hit to right field and an error in the outfield allowed G. Morgan to come around to score.

Nichols stole second base and then came around to score on an error off of the bat of Chip Morgan.

In the top of the second inning, Strong struck out the first batter and then got a pop up to shortstop of the second out of the inning.

Eufaula then picked up a two-out hit, but Strong remained unfazed and a pop up to second base ended the frame.

Strong led off the bottom of the second with a walk and the stole second and third.

Strong later came around to score to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

Andalusia added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jacob Cravey started the frame with a single.

A single from C. Morgan moved Cravey to second and then a single from Strong put Andalusia up 4-0.

A few batters later, Garrett Davis drove in G. Morgan with a single and then a double from Nichols plated Davis for a 6-0 Andalusia lead.

Nichols would then come in to score to stretch the Bulldogs’ lead up to 7-0.

The Bulldogs picked up one more run to come away with an 8-0 win.

Strong picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.

“I thought we played well,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “It was a very clean game on our part. Brennan (Strong) threw the ball well along with Ayden Amis.”

The Bulldogs return to action with a rivalry game on Monday against the Opp Bobcats in Opp.
