St. Mary’s 6th Mardi Gras 5K set for March 2

St. Mary’s sixth Mardi Gras 5K Run and Walk will be held Sat., March 2.

The 5K run and walk will supports the church’s rice and beans program, which offers free rice, beans and non-perishable food items, as well as a free hot breakfast to those in need on the third Saturday of each month.

St. Mary’s senior warden Debra Gamble said the outreach provides food to more than 100 families each month, and consistently feeds more than 200 people a homemade, hot breakfast on distribution day.

Cost is $25 for the 5K run or walk, and $10 for the fun run. Online registration is available at active.com.

The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the fun run starts at 10 a.m. The runs starts are St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 East Three Notch St., in Andalusia. Awards will be given out and a red beans and rice lunch will be served for all participants at 11 a.m. Additional lunch tickets are available for $5.

Race day registration and check in is the day of the race begins at 8 a.m.

Mardi gras dress is encouraged.
