FHS earns spot in title game

The Florala Lady Wildcats earned a spot in the Class 1A, Area 3 tournament after knocking off the Kinston Lady Bulldogs 52-29 on Monday night in Florala.
Lakin Hadley had the Lady Wildcats off and running as she paced Florala with five points in the first period.
Hadley was 3-for-3 from the free-throw line in the first period.
At the end of the first period, the Lady Wildcats were up 8-5.
In the second period, Florala got rolling with strong play from Sharae Coleman.
Coleman lit up the scoreboard to tune of seven points.
Meredith Parker, Jerilyn Kemp, Ranisha Wright and Hadley each added baskets for the Lady Wildcats as they took a 24-11 lead into halftime.
Florala’s offensive outburst continued in the third period.
Hadley was on fire from downtown as she buried a pair of 3-pointers.
Coleman added five points as the Lady Wildcats were up 40-24 with one period left to play.
Parker connected on a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth period to help the Lady Wildcats pull out a 52-29 victory.
Coleman led the Lady Wildcats with 17 points.
Parked finished the night with 13 points and Hadley added 12 points.
“We played sloppy to start with,” Florala head coach David Bass said. “We didn’t really execute the game plan at first, but we came in a made some adjustments. They did a good job of defending us and stopping what we usually do.”
With the win, Florala will take on Brantley at 7 p.m., Thursday in Florala for the area championship.
