Andalusia Health will rely on a mobile unit to provide MRI services for the next three months as it completes a $1.2 million upgrade to its MRI equipment.

The project, which began the week of January 7, upgrades Andalusia Health’s MRI unit with the advanced GE SIGNA Explorer XT, CEO John Yanes said.

“The leading edge technology will significantly enhance image quality, reduce scan time and decrease patient testing time,” he said.

The mobile unit will be available from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The unit is closed for lunch from 11 a.m. until noon.

Yanes said the hospital’s open MRI unit will continue to be available during regular service hours, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
