Lady Wildcats hold on for win

The Florala Lady Wildcats need all four periods to get the job done, but they picked up a 43-33 victory over the Kinston Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night Florala.
In the opening period, both teams struggled to get much going on offense.
Florala got a big 3-pointer from Makayla Parker in the opening frame.
Sharae Coleman hit a pair of free throws, but the score was tied 5-5 at the end of the first period.
Florala had a chance to build a good lead in the first period, but the Lady Wildcats shot just 2-for-8 from the free-throw line in the opening period.
In the second period, the Lady Wildcats’ offense picked up the pace as they came out strong.
Laken Hadley was quite in the first period, but the standout junior found her shot in the second period.
Hadley drained a pair of 3-pointers and hit a free throw to help the Lady Wildcats take the lead.
The Parker twins (Makayla and Meredith) got in on the 3-point action as they each buried a shot from behind the arc in the second period.
The Lady Wildcats also shot more efficiently from the free-line in the second period that helped them take the lead into halftime.
Jerilyn Kemp went 2-for-2 from the line and Coleman was 1-for-2 to help the Lady Wildcats go up 23-10 at halftime.
In the third period, the Lady Wildcats continued to shoot the ball well as they continued to build their lead.
Ma. Parker was on fire as she drained a pair of 3-pointers for the Lady Wildcats in the third period.
Coleman had three points in the third period for the Lady Wildcats.
Chy Reagan and Jenna Goolsby added two points each as the Lady Wildcats took a 36-20 lead into the final period.
Coleman finished off the night strong as she hit a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws in the fourth period.
Kemp added two points as the Lady Wildcats held on for the win.
Coleman led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points.
“We played hard,” Lady Wildcats’ head coach David Bass said. “It was an ugly win, but a win is a win.”
