The Coffee County Arts Alliance will present Ensemble Mélange in concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, at the Enterprise High School Performing Arts Center.
Ginny Canon, CCAA marketing, said Ensemble Melange is a joyful modern day ensemble that is changing the rule of performance as it is currently known.
“What is unique to their performance is the manner in which the program is selected,” she said. “The audience is invited to selected the program by choosing from a menu of different styles. Each member of the audience will be given a list of songs and a number. The holders of the numbers called with get to choose the pieces to be played.”
It’s a you choose; they play kind of concert. The program menu includes Americana, Jazz, Romantic, Latin, Classical and Baroque.
The menu includes familiar tunes and some that may be discovered for the first time. Selections include “Take My Hand, Precious Lord,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Cabaret,” “Far From the Home I Love,” “Sophisticated Lady,” “Mexican Serenade” and “Piano Sonata No. 24.”
“Ensemble Mélange is a sextet of virtuosos who play different instruments including violins, cello and clarinets,” Canon said.
What Ensemble Mélange says about its performance is whether you’re a purist or a populist, a snob or a nob, 8 years old or 80 years old, you’ll leave the performance charmed and punch-drunk on a piece you didn’t know you were going to love.
“So, make plans to come and enjoy the one-of-a-kind, high energy concert,” Canon said. “It will be fun for the entire family.”
