The Pleasant Home Eagles and the Andalusia Bulldogs split games in varsity basketball action on Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 46, ANDALUSIA 26

In the opening game of the night, both teams kept it close before a strong fourth period allowed the Lady Eagles to come away with a 46-26 victory.

River Baldwin got the Lady Eagles on the board first and then Amy Kate Bulger knocked down a 3-pointer to give Pleasant Home a 5-0 lead.

Symone Reed answered with a pair of baskets.

Eryanna Sheridan came up with a steal and went down the court for a layup to cut Pleasant Home’s lead down to 7-6.

At the end of the first period, the Lady Eagles were on top 15-14.

Both teams continued to battle it out in the second period and Pleasant Home took a 21-19 lead into halftime.

The Lady Eagles stretched the lead to 33-23 heading into the final period.

Pleasant Home surged and came away with a 46-26 victory.

Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, 17 rebounds and nine blocks.

BOYS

ANDALUSIA 53, PLEASANT HOME 36

Andalusia wrapped up the night with a big 53-36 victory.

Austin Kelley got fouled to start the game and hit 1-of-2 free throws to give the Eagles an early lead.

On the other end of the floor, Keaun Samuel pulled down an offensive rebound and put it back up for a 2-1 Andalusia lead.

Kris Cook gave the Eagles the lead back with a bucket and then Kelley stretched it to 5-2.

Pleasant Home continued their hot start as Cook maede it 7-2.

Andalusia came surging back with back-to-back baskets from Elijah McClain to bring the Bulldogs within one point of the Eagles.

The Eagles responded with a jumper from Logan Royals to go up 9-6.

Andalusia got a free throw from Luis Reyes and then a layup from Franklin Osario tied the game 9-9.

At the end of the first period, Andalusia was on top 15-11.

Samuel got things rolling in the second period and then McClain put the Bulldogs up 21-12.

James Hawkins came up with a big 3-pointer for the Eagles, Andalusia was on top 31-22 at halftime.

Cook opened up the scoring in the third period as the Eagles attempted to fight back into the game.

The Bulldogs got big buckets from McClain, Reyes and Samuel to put them on top 39-28 heading into the final period.

Cook cut the lead back to single digits, but then Samuel dropped in a 3-pointer to put Andalusia up 42-30.

The Eagles got the Bulldog lead down to 10 points, but Roosevelt Weaver came through with a layup to put the Bulldogs on top 47-35.

Andalusia was able to hold on for the win.

“We definitly played hard on the defense end and we rebounded the ball a lot better,” Andalusia head coach Brad Goldman said. “We probably gave up 15 or 20 offensive rebounds Monday night. That’s something we wanted to focus on tonight. When we can get a stop and rebound the ball we are very effective at scoring.”
