Christmas parades begin Thursday

Soon the streets of Covington County will be filled with Christmas cheer.

Andalusia

The annual Christmas parades begin this week, when Andalusia’s parade rolls at 7 on Thursday night, Nov. 29. The theme is Classic Christmas Songs.

Parade line-up is at Andalusia High School. The parade route starts at the First Baptist Church on East Three Notch Street and continues through the Court Square, ending at River Falls Street.

As has become tradition, the city’s Tourism and Relocation Committee will host its annual tree lighting on the Court Square beginning at 6 p.m.

The Andalusia Fire Department is expected to escort Santa into town at the conclusion of the parade.

Opp

Opp’s Christmas parade will roll at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, be Fri., Nov. 30. The theme is Christmas Around the World and there will be a contest for the best float, cars/trucks and walkers/horses. The judging will be based upon creativity, overall appearance and adherence to the parade theme. The parade will be on Main Street in Opp.

Red Level

The Red Level Christmas parade will be at 10 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 1. The parade starts at the baseball field in Red Level and ends at Fairmount Church. If anyone is interested in being in the Red Level Christmas parade there are still openings available.

Florala

The Florala Christmas parade will be at 6 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 8. The theme for this year’s parade is An Old Fashioned Christmas. Line-up will begin at Florala High School at 5:30 p.m. No application is necessary.
