Eagles start year off strong

The Pleasant Home Eagles opened the season with a split in Geneva on Tuesday.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 50, GENEVA 42

In the opening game of the day, the Lady Eagles got things going with a 50-42 victory.

Pleasant Home was led by River Baldwin who had a career night for the Lady Eagles.

Baldwin finished the game with 26 points and a career-high 23 rebounds. She also added four blocks for the Lady Eagles.

Hope Gunter had a strong game as she finished with 11 points and five assists.

BOYS

GENEVA 74,

PLEASANT HOME 62

Pleasant Home put up a strong fight, but fell to Geneva 74-62 in the final game of the day.

Austin Kelley had the hot hand for the Eagles to start the contest.

Kelley had 11 points including one 3-pointer in the opening period, but Geneva was on top 18-15.

James Hawkins and Jacob Price had two points each for the Eagles.

In the second period, Marvin Fantroy and Kelley helped the Eagles tie the game 29-29 heading into halftime.

Fantroy and Kelley each had five points in the second period.

The Eagles spread around the scoring in the third period with Hawkins, Brady Sowards, Logan Royals and Kris Cook contributing two points each.

Kelly had five points and Kaleb Piland had four points in the third period, but Geneva was on top 51-46 with one frame left to play.

Kelley added five more points in the fourth period, but Geneva was able to come away with a 74-62 victory.

Kelley led the Eagles with 26 points and 15 rebounds.
