An Opp man was charged with five counts of possession of obscene matter on Wednesday and is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Assistant Chief Kevin Chance said David Dale Alexander Bowers, 27, was charged after an investigation showed him allegedly downloading pictures and videos depicting child pornography.

Opp Police Department investigators were assisted by investigators from the Covington County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation which led to his arrest.

Possession of obscene matter is a Class C felony.
