Members of the Andalusia High School Band Boosters are selling Big Money Tickets.

Brandi Long, who is coordinating the fundraiser, said a $50 donation buys three chances to win in a drawing for $3,000, $2,000 or $1,000.

“We are attempting to sell 500 tickets at $50 each,” Long said. “We will have the drawing at during halftime on October 12, which is homecoming.”

Long said Band Boosters are raising money for several reasons.

“This is the year we travel to Universal Studios,” she said. “We will go down there, and march in a parade. It’s not all fun, there is some work involved for the students.

For us to be able to send each student at a reasonable price, we have to do a lot of fundraising.”

Band Boosters say they are working extra hard this year because A-Town, the group’s annual marching contest and a major fundraiser, was practically rained out last year.

Band Boosters also help purchase band equipment, like instruments.

Band Booster treasurer Cara Russell estimated it costs $55,000 per year to operate the marching band on a minimal scale.

Tickets are available just inside the gate at all home games, Long said, and from Band Boosters, and in the AHS office. She also has tickets available, and can be contacted at 488.2555.
