3N Market moved to October

The Andalusia Junior Women’s Club is moving Three Notch Market to October 6, instead of the usual date in the spring.
Co-Chair Jessica Eiland said that the decision was made after thinking about the weather and several other things that made it better to have in the fall.
The market will coincide with the Andalusia High School band competition A-town, and Eiland hopes that it will bring more people to the market.
“The weather was really hot at our spring market,” Eiland said. “So hopefully with it being in October, it will be a little cooler. We also thought that since it will be closer to Christmas, people will want to shop at the market. We didn’t plan on it coinciding with A-Town, but we will definitely reap the benefits of everyone being in town.”
Another reason for the change was to spread out AJWC events, Eiland said.
“We usually have Red Garter at the beginning of the month (in March),” Eiland said. “So with our spring market being only a month after, it was getting stressful on us, so we wanted to change the date to have more space in between our events.”
The fall market will include two new events this year including a costume contest for kids and a pumpkin decorating contest for K-12.
“We wanted to get kids more involved in this year’s market,” Eiland said. “In the past we have done an art contest, but we wanted to stay in the fall theme so we decided to do the pumpkin decorating contest.”
The AJWC also will raffle chances for a Ronaldo bracelet from Christopher’s Jewelry, a weekend at the beach donated by Tari McClung, or a $100 Big Mike’s gift card.
The AJWC is still accepting vendors at this time and Eiland said that anyone is welcome to be a vendor.
“We will have everything from baby clothes, to artwork and homemade rugs,” Eiland said. “We will also still have our kids area where they can do crafts and participate in different activities.”
The AJWC also encourages businesses to sponsor a tent at the fall market as well.
“We encourage local businesses to come and support the market by sponsoring a tent,” Eiland said. “Your presence is important to the community.”
