The Andalusia Police Department Wednesday morning released a written statement  morning about an ongoing investigation involving an employee of Andalusia City Schools.

The statement follows:

“The Andalusia Police Department received a complaint of an alleged incident involving an Andalusia City School employee and a student.
A group of trained investigators continue to work on the case at Andalusia PD along with requested assistance of Alabama Law Enforcement
Agency (ALEA) Investigators, the State Dept of Education and the Andalusia City Schools. The Covington County District Attorney was briefed yesterday (Tuesday) and has offered to assist if needed,” the APD statement continued.

“The Andalusia Police Dept. will not release information that could be critical to the outcome of the case at this stage of the investigation.
“The information we can release at this time is that our team of investigators and partnering agencies have been and will continue to work to obtain the information needed to conclude the investigation. We appreciate the inquiries and would also appreciate your patience throughout
the investigation,” the statement said. “If you or someone you know has information they would like to provide to assist in the investigation, please contact, Investigator Gene Jackson, Investigator Cody Warren, Lt. Jody Scott, or myself, Chief Paul Hudson. We can be reached at 222-1155.”

On Monday, District Attorney Walt Merrell provided the following statement to local media: “The recent allegations involving alleged misconduct by a teacher at Andalusia High School (are) being investigated by the Andalusia Police Department. Our office has not had any involvement in that matter, nor are we privy to any of the details of that investigation at this point.”
