Andalusia ended its season Friday night in Grove Hill, losing to Clarke County 14-7.

The Bulldogs were up 3-0 after the first inning and had the lead two different times during the game.

“(Friday’s) game was kind of an up and down game,” Andalusia coach Jonathan Rasberry said. “I thought we hit the ball well overall. We made a lot of pitching mistakes and that really hurt us. We had 11 or 12 hits and scored seven runs and they had 11 or 12 hits and they scored 14. So, it’s was just one of those things.”

Rasberry said his first year as head coach has been an enjoyable one and that he looks forward to what the future has in store for the Bulldogs.

“It was a good experience — it was definitely an adventure, I’d have to say,” he said. “I really like Andalusia. I like the town, the city and I think we have a good bit of support here.

“Being my first year here I knew the pressure was going to be substantial,” he said. “That’s a part of it. I thought we had plenty of opportunities to win games. We just have to take it on and get ready for next year and that’s my main goal now.”

“I think we have a good group coming up. I’m really looking forward to the next two years here at Andalusia because I think the kids really enjoy playing the game. They really get after it.”

Rasberry said the season really has not ended for the team.

“We’re going to have an off-season workout plan,” Rasberry said. “I’ll talk with each player individually to talk about what they did well and what they did not do so well. Even though a season has ended, a new one is just starting.”

Andalusia finished its season with an 11-15, 2-4 in Class 4A, Area 3 record.
