BATTLE TO THE BITTER END: Lady Eagles surge, boys fall to Houston County

The Pleasant Home Eagles split varsity matches on with Houston County on Tuesday night.
GIRLS
PLEASANT HOME 46, HOUSTON COUNTY 33
In the opening varsity contest, the Lady Eagles were able come away with a 46-33 win.
Pleasant Home’s Amy Kate Bulger had a big 3-pointer in the opening period as her five points helped put the Lady Eagles on top 11-7 at the end of the first period.
River Baldwin, Bella Worley and Allie Garner each chipped two points for the Lady Eagles in the opening frame.
The Lady Eagles continued to play strong in the second period as they built a 22-17 lead going into halftime.
Bulger led the way in the second period with four points for the Lady Eagles.
Baldwin had three points in the period.
Hope Gunter and Worley each had two points for the Lady Eagles in the second period.
In the third period, Baldwin went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line to put the Lady Eagles up 33-23 heading into the fourth period.
Baldwin finished the game as the leading scorer with 14 points and Bulger finished with 13 points.
BOYS
HOUSTON COUNTY 74, PLEASANT HOME 51
The Eagles put up a battle, but fell to Houston County 74-51.
