A Babbie home is considered a total loss after a Thursday afternoon fire.
The Babbie Volunteer Fire Department and Opp Fire Department provided mutual aid to a fire on a home located at 23599 Family Lane from 12:19 to 2 p.m.
No on was home at the time of the fire.
“We suppressed the fire from the outside and headed inside where we tried to stop the heat in the overhead,” Opp Fire Chief Cory Spurlin, said.
“There was a significant amount of damage done to the house.”
The fire was contained to the front left side of the house.
The fire could have started in the kitchen or living room, Spurlin said.
There is no confirmation on how the fire started.
“The house has a lot of smoke damage throughout, it can be considered a total loss,” Spurlin said.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Babbie Volunteer Fire Department.
