An Andalusia couple is behind bars and facing multiple counts of child endangerment after police allegedly caught them smoking marijuana in the presence of their children.

Law enforcement officials say that Andalusia Police officers went to Clara Street in Andalusia to serve a search warrant on Wednesday.

When they arrived, the smelled burned marijuana and contacted agents with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force.

“We did a search warrant and located an amount of marijuana,” said Agent Greg Jackson.

Jackson said that both parents were charged with five counts of chemical endangerment of a child because there were five small children in the home.

Amber Lynn Berg, 34, and Wesley Aaron Fanning, 34, were also charged with possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were being held in the Covington County Jail on a $1,260,500 bond each.

Under Alabama law, the couple faces a Class C felony.

If convicted, the pair faces not more than 10 years or less than one year and one day, and fines up to $15,000.
