The Pleasant Home Eagles surged in the second half as they topped Red Level 59-32 in the second day of the 51st Annual Andalusia High School Christmas Tournament.
“This was a really good win for us,” Pleasant Home head coach Troy Turman said. “We have a had a rough start to the season. We have been rusty, banged up and struggling to find the right line up. Right now, we are just looking to play with a full game. Tonight, I felt like we did that. We played four quarters and that’s something we have been working on at practice.”
Pleasant Home grabbed a 20-10 lead after the first period and then stretched the lead up to 33-21 heading into halftime.
Red Level trimmed the lead down to 11, but the Eagles went on a run that gave them a 49-27 lead at the end of the third period.
“There in the third period, we really got a good stretch going,” Turman said. “When you hit a couple of layups and 3-pointers while making stops on defense, it can really get frustrating for the other team. Tonight, I was really proud of the way that we played on both ends of the court. This is a good team win and something that we can build on.”
Robert Scott led the Eagles with 26 points in the win.
Turman said that he gives Red Level credit for a tough game.
“They played us really hard,” Turman said. “Hats off to them. They are a good team.”
