BATTLE ON THE HARDWOOD: Andalusia, Pleasant Home split varsity action

The Andalusia Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins in Friday night basketball action against the Pleasant Home Eagles.
B-TEAM
ANDALUSIA 43, PLEASANT HOME 29
In the opening game of the evening, the Bulldogs fought their way to a 43-29 win over the Eagles.
Elijah McClain led the Bulldogs with 18 points in the win.
Jacob Price led the Eagles with 8 points.
GIRLS
PLEASANT HOME 49, ANDALUSIA 22
The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles surged to a big 49-22 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Andalusia scored the first seven points of the game, but then the Lady Eagles pulled ahead with 26 unanswered points.
The Lady Eagles held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the second period and went into halftime with a 22-7 lead.
Pleasant Home continued to play strong and held of the Lady Bulldogs in the second half to pick up a 49-22 win.
River Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 30 points, 14 rebounds and five steals.
Kat Finley was the leading scorer for Andalusia with 7 points.
BOYS
ANDALUSIA 68, PLEASANT HOME 31
In their first game of the season, the No. 9-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs surged to a 68-31 victory over the Eagles.
The Eagles kept the game close for the first two periods, as they only trailed 33-23 heading into halftime.
However, Andalusia came out scorching in the second half and held the Eagles to just eight points the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs got a spark from Trey Wilkerson in the third period as he hammered home two big dunks to swing the momentum in Andalusia’s favor.
At the end of the third period, Andalusia held a 53-30 advantage.
B.J. Anderson knocked down a 3-pointer to get the fourth period going and then tossed up an alley-oop to Wilkerson who finished off the play with a monster dunk.
“I was proud that played with passion and enthusiasm,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “I was really proud of the way Ethan (Wilson) played defense and the way that Keaun Samual played on the boards. He had nine rebounds in the second half and finished the game with 13. I was really glad to see us defining our roles in the first game. The energy was really good tonight. Our defense held them to just eight points in the second half. We had trouble in our half-court offense at times, but the offense will come.”
Wilkerson was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 22 points in the win.
Anderson finished with 16 points.
Nic Woods led the Eagles with 10 points.
