Four years ago, Dirk Price, who is blind, would have never thought it was possible to go hunting.

Now, Price organizes hunts in the region for people just like him.

Physically Challenged Bowhunters of America is a non-profit organization that is helping to assist disabled people to actively participate in bow hunting and archery sports.

The organization operates with contributions from companies, organizations, and individuals.

Price felt that as a landowner he could give back by creating more hunting opportunities for more PCBA members in Alabama. The result is the Alabama Hunt, set for Jan. 18-21, 2018.

Nine PCBA members were selected to participate in the hunt.

Price will do his second hunt in Covington County, on his own land.

For his first hunt, he raised $3,500.

“This year is a little different because for this hunt, we have people new to the sport,” Price said, “We have to buy bows for them, and that stuff adds up. “

Price is responsible for the hunting group’s food, food plots, hunting licenses, stands, and he is also hoping to help pay for some of the hunters’ transportation costs.

The Farmer’s Market will host the hunting party for dinner each night.

On Saturday, the PCBA will host a Wild Game Dinner at the Farmer’s Market in appreciation of the donations and volunteers made by all organizations.

“We are in need of volunteers, and any donations will help us,” Price said, “It means a lot to the members of PCBA,”
