A Butler County man was charged with drug trafficking and a host of other charges after he was stopped at Murphy Oil Wednesday morning, his second drug trafficking charge in Covington County in a year.

Twenty-second Judicial Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson stopped Octavias Terrell Mobley and during the stop, Mobley was found in possession of several ounces of synthetic marijuana and a 9 mm handgun with an extended magazine.

Mobley fled on foot and officers called for backup, Jackson said.

Law enforcement officials from the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Andalusia Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded and he was taken into custody.

He was charged with drug trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia, pistol without a permit and attempting to elude.

He is being held in the Covington County jail on a $518,000 bond.

He was out of jail on bond from an October 2016 arrest in which Jackson arrested him in River Falls, where they found approximately 115 grams of synthetic marijuana on him.

He was charged with drug trafficking, possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia in that incident.
