Before Scott Mason took the helm of the Florala High School football program, there were only three home games scheduled for this year.

“Most of our money comes from our home games,” Mason said.

Mason has big plans for the football team, and knew that he had to raise more money in order to do it.

“Our team is so young,” Mason said, “We’re really just starting out.”

By next year, Mason wants to have raised $7,000 for a set of all new designed uniforms.

“It’ll be a new cutting edge design, something people will really enjoy,” Mason said.

Mason organized a fundraiser, fittingly labeled Rock Night.

Rock Night will be a two-hour concert from a regional alternative-rock band called Sloth Racer.

It will be held on Nov. 10, and will be at the Florala High School football stadium.

The gates will open at 5 p.m. with the concert starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

Tickets will be $10 each, and full concessions will be offered.

Sloth Racer’s hometown is Mobile, and the band is made up of four guys: Franklin Pratt, vocals and rhythm guitar; Logan Reid, bass; Justin Stone, percussion; and Turner Mason, lead guitarist.

Turner Mason is Scott Mason’s son.

“The band is really active around Mobile, they play a variety of things,” Mason said, “There will be something everyone will want to listen to,”

The band will be playing a variety of covers, as well as original songs.

“We expect an amazing turn out,” Mason said, “The community is incredibly supportive.”

The Florala High School football team is also selling metal tumblers for $25.
