LBW 4th among top colleges

Schools.com has ranked LBW Community College as the fourth-best community college in Alabama, based on its analysis.

The organization ranked colleges by using data from the National Center for Education Statistics to evaluate schools on criteria that is important to students. Factors include percentage of students enrolled in distance education, cost of attendance, student-to-faculty ratio, retention rate and much more.

LBW president Dr. Herb Ridel said, “Our top priority is the success of our students, both in the classroom and in pursuit of a career. We are implementing even more strategies to strengthen the success of our students, including a new Quality Enhancement Plan designed to improve the students’ first-year experience.

“This ranking is a reflection of the many initiatives created over the last few years to help students complete their college credential at LBWCC, transfer to a four-year institution, or obtain employment in the career field for which they trained,” he said.

Based on the study, below are the best community colleges in Alabama:

  2. Gadsden State Community College (Gadsden)
  3. John C. Calhoun State Community College (Tanner)
  4. Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Andalusia)
  5. Southern Union State Community College (Wadley)
  6. Wallace State Community College (Hanceville)
  7. Reid State Technical College (Evergreen)
  8. Snead State Community College (Boaz)
  9. George C. Wallace State Community College (Dothan)
  10. Northeast Alabama Community College (Rainsville)
