Walter Robert Waller Jr.,
Mr. Walter Robert Waller Jr., age 82, of Opp, died Thurs., Oct. 12, 2017, at a local hospital.
Mr. Robert Waller was well known for his service and dedication in education. He served as a teacher and a coach at Geneva County High School in Hartford, Ala.; five years as a teacher and coach at Andalusia High School; teacher and coach at Georgianna High School; five years as principal at Opp Middle School; 17 years as principal at Opp High School ; and he retired after serving eight years as assistant superintendent of Opp City Schools.
Mr. Waller is survived by his wife, Anne Jeffcoat Waller; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff (Marsha) Waller; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Len) Jones; brothers and sisters-in law, Jerry (Anne) Waller, Jack (Janie) Waller, Chuck ( Elaine) Waller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole ( Harry) Lees, Sue ( Scott) Brown; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Robert Waller Sr. and Edna Lambert Waller and sister and brother-in-law, JoAnne ( Dan) Henley.
A funeral service for Mr. Waller will be conducted 11 a.m. Mon., Oct. 16, 2017, at Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Dees and Bro. Jimmy Jeffcoat officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens in Opp. Visitation will be Monday prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Opp.

William Judson Jordan
William Judson Jordan of Little River, S.C., passed away Fri., Oct. 13, 2017, at Embrace Hospice House.
He is survived by his wife, Dorinda Dudley Jordan, also of Little River; their son, Paul Dudley Jordan of Asheville, N.C.; granddaughters, Laikyn Breanna McKerlie (Craig), Aberdeen, N.C., and Raven Audrianna Davis Poindezter (John); and great-grandchildren Braxton, Rhyan and Finn, Colorado Springs, Colo. Mr. Jordan has a sister Linda Mulkey (Wayne) Atlanta, Ga., and a stepbrother, Gary Benjamin Wright, of Woodlawn, Va. Mr. Jordan was predeceased by his daughter, Catherine Jordan Davis, age 30.
Mr. Jordan was born and reared in Rawls, Ala. He spent 20 years in the Army and started his own trash company in Little River/Calabash; which was later bought by Waste Industries where he worked as a supervisor until he retired.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 16, in Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation or Embrace Hospice, North Myrtle Beach.

Layton Earl Mathews
Layton Earl Mathews, 80, of Fort Mill, S.C., a Sun City resident and native of Andalusia, passed away on Fri., Sept. 15, 2017, at White Oak Manor in York, S.C.
Layton was a son of the late Robert “Curt” Mathews and Eula Mae Duke Mathews. He served 27 ½ years in the US Marine Corp and graduated from Douglas MacArthur State Technical College in Opp. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Andalusia.
Layton is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Jones Mathews; son, Layton Edward Mathews (Angelyn); brothers, Joe Mathews (Marlene), Charles Mathews (Judy); brother-in-law, Jim Harrigan; grandchildren, Amber Ammons, Ann Margaret Mathews; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jonathan, and Addison Ammons.
In addition to his parents, Layton was preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina Mathews, and sister, Evelyn Harrigan.
