Erin Powers and Thomas Yancey Chavers, along with their parents, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Arthur and Fran Powers of Johnson City, Tenn.. Erin is the granddaughter of the late Houston and Margaret Wicker, and Frank and Ann Powers.

The groom is the son of Dorothy and Dessie Manning of Andalusia, and Thomas Larry and Susan Chavers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. Thomas is the grandson of the late Corrie and Elizabeth Norris, and Thomas and Crawford and Rosie Bell Chavers.

Erin is an English teacher at Cedar Bluff Middle School in Knoxville, Tenn.. Thomas is employed with Jewelry Television of Knoxville, Tenn.

The wedding will take place aboard the Volunteer Princess in Knoxville, Tenn., in October. Invitations have been sent.
