Smaller lots, HOA designed to make maintenance easier

A new subdivision being developed off Antioch Road is being designed with convenience in mind.

Frank and Tambry Henderson are developing Dwelling, which will feature nine homes ranging from 1,450 to 1,600 SF, situated on quarter-acre lots.

Frank Henderson said Tuesday that infrastructure work is under way at the site, which is near the Antioch Road entrance to LBW Community College, with easy access to the Nature Trail, Dream Park, and Evans Barnes Golf Course.

“I think they’ll be perfect for people who are widowed, or a single parent, and don’t need a lot to keep up, or maybe for people who need to downsize,” Henderson said.

He said three of the nine lots are presold. Construction will be by ABRAM Homes, which has developed nine craftsman-style homes from which homeowners could choose.

“The houses are all a split three-bedroom, two-bath plan,” Henderson said. “The center is open with a den, kitchen and dining space.”

The homes can be customized, he said, and can be designed to be handicap-accessible.

Chase Cotton and Jeremy McMath of Civil Southeast have done the engineering work for the project, which gained approval from the Andalusia Planning Commission this summer.

Henderson said the infrastructure should be completed for November ground breakings of the first three homes.

Dwelling will have a member-owned Home Owners’ Association, he said, which will keep the grass cut, the shrubbery trimmed, and the area cleaned up.
