PowerSouth reminds property owners and visitors that the Point A Lake drawdown is scheduled to begin on Fri., Sept. 15, and last until mid-December. The lake is being lowered to allow for inspections and repairs to the Point A dam.

The lake’s water level will recede gradually, over about two weeks’ time. The lake will be lowered six inches per day for the first two days and then one foot per day for the next week. After the eight-foot mark, the lake will be lowered as quickly as safely possible. During this time, water flow from the Conecuh River and Patsaliga Creek will be allowed to pass through Point A dam and continue downstream into the Conecuh River.

Property owners who have received permits to perform shoreline work may begin projects after Oct. 4.

In the interest of safety, all public access to the lake will be closed for the duration of the drawdown, including boat launches and public fishing piers. For safety purposes and to avoid disturbing threatened mussel species’ habitat, PowerSouth asks the public to refrain from entering the lakebed, including operating vehicles, fishing and other activities.
