South Alabama Regional Airport is serving as a refuge for a West Palm Beach flight school once again.

SARA Executive Director Jed Blackwell said that the West Palm Beach Flight School brought 15 or 16 planes to be housed in the twin hangars.

The airport was originally going to serve as a haven for the Florida National Guard, but the unit was called to Gulfport, Miss., instead.

“We are getting a lot of calls,” Blackwell said. “I image we’ll get a several more (on Saturday).”

The Heliport Café will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The menu will be as follows:

Saturday:
Breakfast – Eggs, Bacon, Grits, Biscuits, Tomato Gravy & Sausage.
Lunch – Fried Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Various Sides & Desserts.
Supper – Fried Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Various Sides & Desserts.
Sunday:
Breakfast – Eggs, Bacon, Grits, Biscuits, Tomato Gravy & Sausage.
Lunch – Grilled Hamburgers, French Fries, Various Sides.
Supper – Pot Luck (Various Dishes)
Cost is adults: Breakfast $5.99 and lunch / supper $8.99
Children (12 & Under): Breakfast $3.99 and lunch / supper $5.99.
