Weather slows effort; search continues today

The number of marijuana plants found outside of Florala keeps growing.
On Monday, after a tip from the Florala Police Department, agents began investigating a large grow just north of the 9-mile marker.
Monday they found around 351 plants, but that number grew to 769 on Tuesday.
Law enforcement officials using a marijuana eradication aircraft located at least three more patches before the weather halted the search.
Some of the plants in Tuesday’s findings grew as tall as 13 feet.
DTF Commander Mark Odom said, “We have collected more than $1 million worth of plants to this point, with more to come.”
He also said that there are still no leads on suspects.
Anyone with information about the grow is asked to contact the Drug Task Force at 334-222-3532 or Robbie Barton at the Alabama Beverage Control Board Enforcement at 334-222-4914.
