Bethany Baptist Church is planning a backpack giveaway just in time for school to begin.

Pastor Nathan Daniels said that the church will be giving away backpacks for students in preschool through middle school.

The event will be held at the Powerplant Marketplace on Central Street on Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Daniels said those who attend will be treated to a free lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers.

Additionally, there will be inflatables.

“We’re going to have different vendors and hope to get the fire department and police departments out there, too,” he said.
