Those planning a beach trip in the next few days should be aware that as of this morning, double red flags are still posted in Destin, South Walton, Panama City Beach, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

The National Weather Service has warned that there will be dangerous rip currents and those have been reported along the Florida Panhandle.

Gov. Kay Ivey has declared a state of emergency for Alabama thanks to a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico.

NWS has warned that there could be significant flash flooding associated with the tropical system in the Gulf. 

Rainfall is predicted to be at 6 to 8 inches across the southern half of the area with locally higher totals at more than 10 inches.

Well inland, those totals are expected to be between 4 and 6 inches, with the potential for even more.

NWS forecasts 2.85 inches for Andalusia and 3.08 inches for Florala through 7 p.m., Friday.
