Local artists on display: LAAC juried art winners announced this week

Josh Scott’s acrylic, “Intermission,” won best of show in the Lower Alabama Arts Coalition’s 2017 juried art show.
The winners were announced at a reception Tuesday night.
LAAC presented first, second and third place awards in eight categories. Twenty artists submitted work to be juried.
Winners were:
Acrylic
- First place, Josh Scott, “Intermission.”
- Second place, Kiley Spears, “XERO.”
- Third place, Tara Dalton, “Steering at You.”
Drawing
- First place, Peggy James, “Lost But Now Found.”
- Second place, Ruben Gonzales, “Bluebird in the Jungle.”
- Third place, “Chickens Come Back to Roost.”
Mixed Media
- First place, Josh Scott, “Big Daddy.”
- Second place, Patrick Armstrong, “The Framers of the Constitution are the Framers of the Conversation”
- Third place, Kiley Spears, “Zu.”
Oil
- First place, Liz Reid, “Poppies in Pink.”
- Second place, Patrick Armstrong, “Storm.”

The exhibit will continue through the end of the month. The Gallery is open afternoons, Tuesday through Friday.
