The Andalusia Police Department is cautioning locals not to accept folded $20 or $100 bills.

Investigator Chris Byrd said the APD has received numerous reports of counterfeit $20 and $100 bills being passed around the city. These bills are clearly marked “For Motion Picture Use Only.” Some characteristics of the bills look genuine and the individuals passing them are folding them so the details cannot be seen by the intended victim, he said.

The APD has also received reports that some citizens have been approached on the street by these individuals seeking to get change for these bills.

Passing or attempting to pass one of these bills to businesses or individuals is a chargeable offense.
