Saints fall to Coastal Alabama

The LBWCC Saints got a strong pitching performance from Tony Kucera on Friday afternoon, but the Saints fell 4-2 to Coastal Alabama Brewton in Andalusia.
Kucera got the first two batters of the game out before an error allowed Coastal Alabama their first base runner of the contest.
It would be the only base runner that Kucera would allow until the top of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Saints couldn’t get the ball out of the infield as the went down in order.
Kucera picked up his first strikeout of the game in the top of the second inning on his way to a 1-2-3 frame.
The Saints got the first hit of the game when Chauncey Callier picked up a two-out single in the bottom of the second inning.
However, the next Saints’ batter struck out to end the inning.
Kucera worked around a two-out walk in the top of the third inning to keep the game scoreless.
In the bottom of the second inning, Jackson Henderson singled with one out and then moved to third on a single from Trey McMillian.
The Saints then loaded the bases when Ko Powell drew a walk.
LBWCC grabbed the lead when Matt Jones lifted a fly ball to center that allowed Henderson to tag up and score from third base.
Gunner Hendrix followed with a RBI single on a line drive to left field to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
After cruising for the first five innings on the mound, Coastal Alabama touched up Kucera for five hits and four runs to go on top 4-2.
The Saints got a leadoff walk from Powell in the bottom of the seventh inning, but weren’t able to move him past second base.
Henderson finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored.
Hendrix and Jones drove in one run each for the Saints.
