Skipper to lead Red Level football

The Covington County Board of Education on Tuesday approved several personnel changes for the next school year.
The board:
- Approved the transfer of Erica Renee Ziglar, at her request from special education teacher at Florala High School to the same position at Straughn High School.
- Accepted the resignation of Fredrick Demetrius Scott as band director at Red Level High School effective May 26.
- Hired Melisan Virginia Sullivan as band director at Red Level High School.

Approved the transfer of Kenneth Skipper, at his request, from history teacher and coach at SHS to general social science and head coach at Red Level High School.
- Hired Christa Mishelle Holley as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School.
- Hired Emily Nicole Byrd as elementary teacher at SES.
- Hired Catherine Hasell Handrahan as special education teacher at SES.
- Hired Katrina Mae Wilson as secretary at SHS.
Additionally, the board:
- Gave its permission to bid produce;
- Gave its permission to renew bids for bread, ice cream and milk;
- Approved continuation of its participation in the state food purchasing program;
- Granted any school in the district permission to hold summer school;
- Gave Superintendent Shannon Driver permission to approve and submit to the state department of education any plans necessary;
- Granted approval for the superintendent to apply for any federal or state funds or grants, to make amendments and enter into contracts as needed for the next school year;
- Granted approval for any board member to attend any school sponsored or school related workshops during the next school year.
