Red Level comeback attempt falls short

The Red Level Lady Tigers fought hard, but fell 18-17 to the Georgiana Lady Panthers on Thursday in Red Level.
Marianne Vigor got the start in the pitcher’s circle, and picked up a pair of strikeouts in the opening frame.
However, Georgiana mustered four runs on four hits, two walks and an error to take an early 4-0 lead.
Graysie Lee earned a walk on four-straight pitches to start the Lady Tigers’ half of the first inning, and moved around to third on pair of passed balls.
Maggie Wilkerson got the Lady Tigers on the board when she roped a single to center that allowed Lee to score with ease.
Wilkerson wasted no time swiping second and then advanced to third on a passed ball.
Vigor helped her on cause with a ground ball to second base that pushed Wilkerson across to score.
The Lady Tigers then took advantage of a pair of walks, a double steal and passed ball to cut the Lady Panther lead down to 4-3.
Red Level tied the contest at 4-4 when Asiah Nicholson scored on a passed ball.
The Lady Tigers continued to take advantage of passed balls as Haley White score their third straight run off catching miscues behind the plate.
Five-straight walks then gave Red Level a 6-4 advantage when Lee drew her second free pass of the inning.
Wilkerson then drove in her second run of the frame with a fielder’s choice to shortstop that gave Red Level a 7-4 lead.
Vigor started off the top of the second inning with a strikeout, but a pair of singles and error allowed the Lady Panthers to tie the game at 7-7.
Alyssa Stewart led off the bottom of the second inning with a walk and then stole second base.
Nicholson followed with a hard-hit groundball that caused and errant throw to first and allowed Stewart to score the go-ahead run.
Another passed ball then allowed Nicholson to score for a 9-7 lead.
The Lady Panthers then walked five-straight batters to allow Red Level to take an 11-7 lead.
Wilkerson added to her RBI total when she hammered a ground ball through the middle of the infield that put Red Level up 12-7.
Georgiana rallied and cut the Lady Tiger lead down to 12-11 heading into the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the third inning, Wilkerson roped a two-out single to left field to give the Lady Tigers a 14-11 advantage.
The Lady Panthers responded with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to take an 18-14 lead.
Red Level continued to fight, but came up one-run short in their comeback attempt to fall 18-17 to Georgiana.
Wilkerson led the Lady Tigers going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run scored.
Lee finished the game 1-for-1 with four walks, three RBI and two runs scored.
