Kinston rallies past Opp

The Opp Lady Bobcats rallied in the final innings on Monday, but couldn’t overcome the Kinston Lady Bulldogs in a 7-6 defeat on Senior Night in Opp.
Morgan Johnson got the Lady Bobcats on the board first with a sacrifice fly, but Kinston stormed away and took the lead.
Maggie Short added a run for the Lady Bobcats with a single, but Kinston kept putting up runs in their at bats.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Kinston held a 6-2 lead.
The Lady Bobcats weren’t going away without a fight and they showed that by plating five runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Johnson drove in a run with a single for her fourth RBI of the game to give the Lady Bobcats a 7-6 lead.
However, in the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Bulldogs took advantage of some timely hits to take a 9-7 lead heading into the final half inning.
The Lady Bobcats were unable to push across a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Johnson finished the game 1-for-2 with a single, two sacrifice flies and four RBI.
Short came in at 2-for-4 with a single, a triple, a run scored and a RBI.
Morgan Pierce finished the game 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs scored.
In the pitcher’s circle, Graci Kidd struck out three batters in the six innings of work.
