Lillie Mae Judge

Lillie Mae Judge, 89, died Tues., April 18, 2017. The funeral service will be Sat., April 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Taunton and the Rev. Andy McKeown officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Ivy Creek Cemetery in Rutledge, Ala. Visitation will be Fri., April 21, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Judge was preceded in death by her parents, Addie and Henry McCormick; brother, Walt McCormick; sister, Rose Cwik; son, James Paul; daughter, Jeanette Paul Collier and grandchildren, Henry Paul and George Wallace Green.

She is survived by her daughter, Roseann Riddle (John); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

At a young age, Lillie worked on her family farm. Later she did sewing, sheet metal, and worked in the auto industry. Even after retiring, she worked to help others. She lived her life as a true example of love. She helped anyone she could and smiled all the while. She found strength in her commitment to her Lord and Savior. She was a shining light to all. The testimony of her life as impacted five generations. She left a legacy that was taught with unselfish love for us to carry on.

Pallbearers are Jeff Green, Chris Hall, Caleb Lock, John Riddle, Wesley Scott, George Cwik, Garrett Riddle, and Chase Riddle.

A special thanks to Alacare Hospice. You showed so much love and respect for her. She looked forward to seeing all of you. Your genuine concern made us feel loved. The knowledge you shared with us prepared us all for what was to come. You will forever be a part of our family!

Gordon Michael Cartwright

Gordon Michael Cartwright, age 17, passed away on Tues., April 18, 2017, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Sat., April 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Straughn High School Football Stadium. Interment will follow in Able Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Fri., April 21, 2017, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Christy Cartwright of Gantt; sister, Ginnee Cartwright of Gantt; brothers, Kenny Cartwright and Ryan Stotts both of Abilene, Texas; grandparents, Ron and Rowena Yates of Gantt; grandfather, Frank Cartwright of Aspermont, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will accept flowers or memorials in Gordie’s name may be made to Straughn Band Boosters.

Marlin D. Dickens

Mr. Marlin D. Dickens, age 86, passed away on Wed., April 19, 2017, in Bay Minette, Ala.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Fri., April 21, 2017, in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Brother Jim Walker officiating the service. A visitation will be on Friday from 11:30-12:45 at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Felisha (Larry) Morris of Andalusia, Jelane White of McCalla, Ala., Miles White of Guntersville, Ala., Hazel Gallagher of Lynchburg, Va., and several other nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews, Leigh Ann O’Neal, Shelley Copeland, Samantha McCart, and Jamie Wages.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Meadows Dickens; his sisters, Tessie Hayes, Leora Haswell, Mary Compton, and Iva White; and brothers, Willard Dickens, James Dickens, and Earnest Dickens.

Donald Cousins

Mr. Donald Cousins, age 72, of Red Level, lost his long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on April 13, 2017.

He was born on May 16, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated Beaver Falls Area High School in 1963. He spent the next four years serving his country in the U.S. Navy. In 1967, he settled in Massachusetts where he spent the next 20 years. He subsequently lived back in Beaver County, Pa., Broward and Okeechobee counties in Florida, and Greene County, Tenn. He moved to Red Level in 2013 to be near his son and daughter-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sun., April 23, 2017, at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Brother Tyler Ingram officiating the service.

Mr. Cousins is preceded in death his parents, Donald and June Cousins, and his sister, Connie McGee.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Cousins; daughters and sons-in-law, Bethe and Scott Woodburn, Erin and Chris Price, and Amy and Thomas Lowell; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Cousins and Matthew and Kelly Cousins; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Robert Girting; brothers, Richard Cousins and John Cousins; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Special thanks to his grandchildren, Connor and Riley Price, who spent the last two summers in Red Level with their beloved Grampy. Also a warm thanks and gratitude to the staff at Florala Health and Rehab Memory Lane for their loving care. Thanks also to Georgiana Hospital for exceptional care in Don’s last days.

Walter Parish Tillman

Walter Parish Tillman, who was born April 6, 1950, passed away on Mon., Feb. 1, 2016, at Golden Living Center – Hueytown, Hueytown, Ala. Walter had been living in the Adger, Ala., area on the Black Warrior River for approximately the past 18 years. He had been fighting prostate cancer since 2012.

He is survived by his brother, William Vance (Tiny) Tillman of Langley, Wash.; step-sister, Peggy (Paul) Crow of Montgomery, Ala.; niece, Lorri Edwards (Pat) of Jacksonville, Fla.; first cousins, Mary Ann (Rick) Campbell of Dadeville, Ala., Dorothy Stewart of Straughn, Peggy Tillman of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., John W. (Beth) Tillman of Wing, Ala., John (Marian) Fike of Newnan, Ga., and Bill (Kathy) Fike of Newnan, Ga.; and his many friends on the Black Warrior River where he lived.

Walter graduated from Straughn High School in 1968. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Laura Tillman of Straughn; Charles and Myrtle Parish of Rose Hill; his mother, Jacqueline Parish Tillman of Rose Hill, in 1960; and his father, W. B. “Snooks” Tillman of Opp, in 2013.
