The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs used big hits to take out the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles 15-4 Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

Sissy Martin got things started for the Lady Eagles with a one-out double in the bottom of the first inning.

Andalusia starting pitcher Mary Katherine Salter responded with a pair of strikeouts to keep the games scoreless after one inning of play.

In the top of the second inning, Reesen Burkette got things going with a bunt single and moved up to second on a passed ball.

After Sydney Ray drew a walk, Zaria Jones reached on an infield single to put the Lady Bulldogs up 1-0.

Chloe Mikel followed with a single up the middle that plated Ray for a 2-0 Andalusia lead.

Andalusia loaded up the bases when Salter reached with an infield single.

Olivia Amerson then laced a single to right field that got under the glove of the Lady Eagle fielder.

The error allowed three Lady Bulldog runners to score, but Amerson was gunned out at the plate attempting to score.

Millie Manring the ripped a single to center that allowed Haley Harper to come around to score.

Pleasant Home got a little life in the bottom of the second inning when A Johnson reached on an error.

Sarah McClung moved Johnson to third with a single to center and then a ground ball from Tammi Hilson put the Lady Eagles on the board.

After two innings of play, the Lady Bulldogs were on top 6-1.

The Lady Bulldogs loaded up the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth inning, but Pleasant Home relief pitcher Tiffany Knoll was about to come out of the inning unscathed after getting a ground out and back-to-back strikeouts.

Knoll then led off the bottom of the fourth inning with an infield single to get things started for the Lady Eagles.

Knoll moved around to second on a single from Johnson and to third on a single from Hilson.

Rae Rae Coleman followed with a run-scoring single.

Martin then picked up an RBI single, and Abby Walker cut the Lady Bulldog lead down to 6-4 with a fielder’s choice to third.

The Lady Bulldogs anwered right back seven runs in the top of the fifth inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, Harper drove in Salter with a double to center to put the Lady Bulldogs on top 14-4.

Haley Day drove in the final run of the day with an infield single.

“It felt really good,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Mikel said of the win. “It was just a really good effort from the girls. I think we ended up with 16 or 17 hits. I was just really proud of the way the girls handled the situations.”
