Lady Saints fall in tough battle

The LBWCC Lady Saints put up a strong fight, but fell 15-6 a tough Alabama Southern softball team on Thursday in Andalusia.
Alabama Southern got on the board in the top of the second inning with a two-run home run over the fence in right field.
In the top of the third inning, Alabama Southern took advantage of a few LBWCC errors to take a 6-0 lead over the Lady Saints.
Jessica Dickson tripled with two outs in the bottom of the third inning, but the Lady Saints were unable to push her across to score.
Alabama Southern added one run in the top of the fourth inning to go up 7-0.
Paige Taylor drew a one-out walk for the Lady Saints in the bottom of the fourth inning and moved around to third on double from M Morse.
Summer Simmons then put the Lady Saints on the board with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Taylor.
The Lady Saints began to inch back into the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Taylor Bethea drove in A McKeown.
Taylor then brought the Lady Saints within striking distance with a sacrifice fly that scored Merikal McCaskill.
Alabama Southern responded with five runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lady Saints in a 12-4 hole.
McCaskill doubled to left field to move E Brown to third.
A sacrifice fly from Dickson the gave the Lady Saints their final run.
