The Andalusia Bulldogs got run support early and held off the Brantley Bulldogs for 6-4 win on Tuesday in Andalusia.

In the bottom of the first inning, Andalusia notched a few base hits that pushed across the first run of the game.

Andalusia broke the game open in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Will Clark provided a solo shot in the bottom of the third inning to give Andalusia a 6-0 advantage.

Brantley took advantage of a couple of errors and base hits in the top of the fifth inning, as they brought four runs across the plate.

J.W. Jones came in the game in relief of starting pitcher Ethan Wilson and shut the door the Brantley comeback attempt.

Jones struck out 5-of-8 batters he faced over the final innings to earn the save for Andalusia.

Wilson picked up the win on the mound and struck out seven batters while only allowing one earned run.

Clark finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and one RBI.

Riley Graham helped lead Andalusia to the win with two RBIs and one run scored.

“Overall, we played well,” Andalusia head baseball coach Tyler Dent said. “Our approaches at the plate were good. Ethan (Wilson) and J.W. (Jones) threw great. We just had a few mistakes in the middle innings that could have cost us.”

Andalusia will be back in action on Saturday at noon when they travel to take on Reeltown.
