The Covington County Child Advocacy Center and its clients are the beneficiaries of three ongoing fundraisers – including the sales of lunches, T-shirts and backpacks.

The CAC is a child-focused center that coordinates the investigation and prosecution of child abuse, while helping abused children heal. The local center opened on the campus of Andalusia Health in 2015.

The organization’s spring box lunch sale is set for next Wed., March 8, and the deadline for ordering has been extended to Fri., March 3.

The boxed lunches include Chicken Shack chicken salad, fresh fruit bowl, pickles, fresh baked yeast roll, dessert, a bag of chips and a surprise, and are $10 each. Pick-up will be at Southside Baptist Church, or delivery will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Ashley Bass is recruiting sponsors for filled backpacks through her Initial Outfitters business. The backpacks will be provided to CAC clients aged 11 to 17.

“Last year, I worked with Kaci to provide 50 lunch totes,” she said. “This year, I wanted to do something more for kids between 11 and 17.”

Bass is selling initial outfitters backpacks for $25, and is filling them with pencils, adult coloring books, pens, and other useful items.

“Initial Outfitters encourages us as consultants to give back,” she said, adding that the company donates the profits from these backpacks to its ministry partners, including Blessings in a Backpack. Her goal is to provide 50 of the colorful, filled backpacks to the Child Advocacy Center.

The CAC also is selling T-shirts for Child Abuse Awareness Month, which is in April.

CAC director Kaci Perry also is encouraging businesses to increase the effectiveness of the fundraiser by allowing employees who make an additional contribution to the CAC to wear the shirts on casual Fridays during April.

Adult shirts, in sizes small to 3XL are $25 each. Youth sizes, in XS to XL, are $15.
